Having returned Mr. Sixy's visit to this blog with one to his, I have asked him if he would you say that, as 'older and wiser' members of society, Boomers hold no social responsibility for passing along knowledge gained through survival to those in younger generations?

My further thoughts are about the term "Boomer", itself. As usual, I have questions...

But, to answer some of Mr. Sixty's (implied) questions:

1) I don't particularly care for Kool-Aid

2) I've not drunk any of Ronni Bennet's

3) Ronni Bennet's "Elderblog" has now been added to the "Boomer Sightings" list, thanks to Mr. Sixty, though I had not added before as I did not see it as a particularly "Boomer" site - but, if it's good enough for such a quintessential Boomer as Mr. Sixty, it is good enough for me...

I especially have a problem with elderblogger. We don’t need to separate ourselves from other bloggers.

The “youthful” appearance of our surrounds, I think, does play a factor. Most especially in those parts of our country in which there exist few visual cues to history. The newer cities of the southwest and west, especially, lack the “feeling” of age.

As usual, you are right on the mark. It’s tough for many Boomers (myself included), who are bombarded with media messages that “elder” is unattractive and undesirable, to overcome that obsession with a youthful appearance and to see — much less embrace — the true inner beauty that comes with aging.

I wonder if part of the reason Americans have such a resistance to aging is because our country is still young?
